Kart: two wins out of two for the KR chassis in Rødby
Reportagem: Kart Republic

Kart Republic has had an extremely positive outcome in the fourth and penultimate round of the Champions of the Future Series. The Italian brand KR won both categories in Rødby with Kenzo Craigie (Prema Racing) in OK and Michael McGaughy (Koski Motorsport) in OK-Junior. The KR-IAME karts clearly delivered a strong performance, with several other drivers finishing on the podium and in the top 10. This bodes very well for the series final in September, but also for the last round of the FIA Karting European Championship, which is fast approaching.

OK: A masterful race for Kenzo Craigie

With four heat wins, 1st place in the Super Heat and a start-to-finish victory in the final, Kenzo Craigie (Prema Racing) dominated the action in Denmark. The Briton is the new leader of the Euro Series! Five other KR-IAME drivers finished in the top 10. Daniel Kelleher (KR Motorsport) gained no fewer than seven places to complete the podium. Winner of one heat, Thibaut Ramaekers (VDL Racing) finished 5th after being one of the main protagonists in the Final. James Anagnostiadis (Prema Racing) impressed with his 21-place comeback to finish 10th behind Joe Turney (KR Motorsport) and Iacopo Martinese (Cetilar Racing). Zac Drummond (Fusion Motorsport) and Jacob Micallef (KR Motorsport) distinguished themselves by each winning a heat, while Jakub Kamenik (Fusion Motorsport) set the fastest lap of the Final. In the overall standings, six KR-IAME engines finished in the top eight.

OK-Junior: two KR-IAME engines on the podium with Koski Motorsport

Drivers using Kart Republic factory equipment gained momentum in Denmark. A double podium, including victory, and a total of four KR-IAME karts in the top 10 served as a reminder of the effectiveness of KR-IAME equipment. Starting in 7th place, Michael McGaughy (Koski Motorsport) pulled off a remarkable feat to take the lead in the Final shortly after the halfway point. The American held on until the finish. On the podium, he was joined by Valerio Viapana, his team-mate at Koski Motorsport. Already a winner of three heats, the Italian fought hard to take 3rd place, while his team did a great job of development to celebrate this brilliant result.

Forced to start further back due to incidents in the races before the Final, Dean Hoogendoorn and Noah Baglin used their speed to move up to 4th and 5th respectively. Hoogendoorn was the fastest in the Final, while Baglin remains in an excellent position to fight for the title.

Comment from Glenn Keyaert, KR Global Motorsport Company

"Overall, we did an excellent job from our arrival in Denmark to the Finals on Saturday. It was still a fairly stressful event, as the sky was threatening, we had to constantly keep an eye on the settings and prepare the second chassis for rain for each driver if necessary. In the end, we managed to adapt our equipment to the characteristics of the difficult Rødby circuit. I noticed that the various teams equipped with KR-IAME were competitive. Congratulations to Koski Motorsport for placing two drivers on the podium in OK-Junior and to Prema Racing for Craigie's victory, but also to all the other teams that were able to shine during the Finals."

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
