Kart: successful high-profile return for LeCont in FIA Karting
Reportagem: LeCont Srl

After a year's absence from CIK-FIA Championships, Cups and Trophies in 2024, LeCont was back in Valencia for the Academy-Junior Trophy. Its professionalism and expertise were unanimously appreciated. The first of the three rounds of this benchmark Trophy took place in excellent conditions and gave rise to intense racing in complete sporting fairness.

LeCont, an option to consider

The Italian manufacturer has been producing competition tyres for karting for several decades and has always maximised performance and consistency, while providing a quality service to ensure the satisfaction of drivers, teams and organisers. In Valencia, all these ingredients came together to make the opening of the Academy-Junior Trophy a great success. Clearly, the LeCont LOH 'option' tyres distributed to the 49 young drivers aged 12 to 14 ensured a lively competition, contested in a healthy atmosphere.

Extremely close gaps

In Qualifying, more than 20 drivers were grouped together in just 5 tenths. And right up to the end of the event, representatives of no fewer than 48 nationalities were able to attack as much as they wanted, without tyre wear posing a problem. For them, the enjoyment was there and the intensity of their battles could testify to that.

Mexican Luis Fer Nunez wins pole position award

For several years now, LeCont has been rewarding the fastest driver over one lap during Qualifying. In Valencia, Luis Fer Nunez was delighted to receive the magnificent trophy put up by the Italian manufacturer. His journey from his distant Central American homeland had not been in vain. In July in Mülsen (Germany) and in September in Cremona (Italy), more trophies will be awarded to the next polemen.

Four drivers neck and neck after Maël Le Marchand's victory

The first round of the FIA Karting Academy-Junior Trophy was extremely open. After Nunez's pole position, five different drivers won at least one of the six Qualifying Heats scheduled in Spain: Ecuador's Julian Rivera Salas twice, Sweden's Erik Poulsen, Romania's Tudor Ioan Jercan, Spain's Hernan Rodriguez Fuente and France's Maël Le Marchand. After an excellent start, Le Marchand made the difference to win the Final ahead of Lithuania's Nojus Stasionis and Poulsen. In the Trophy standings after Valencia, Le Marchand has 69 points. But with 60, 60 and 59 points respectively, Stasionis, Poulsen and Rivera Salas are very close.

Tyres just as effective at Viterbo

While LeCont contributed to the success of the FIA Karting competition in Valencia with their 'option' version tyres, the 'prime' tyres confirmed their great competitiveness at Viterbo in Italy for the first of the two WSK Euro Series events in the OK category. Spaniard Christian Costoya dominated his rivals from pole position to the Final, where he set the fastest lap of the race. Italy's Filippo Sala and Turkey's Alp Aksoy completed the podium at the end of a competition in which LeCont enabled extremely small gaps between the drivers.
