Kart: SWS 2025 / the tide continues to rise in leisure
Reportagem: Sodi World Series

Masterfully orchestrated by Sodikart, the most extensive international ranking in leisure karting has constantly evolved since its creation. The Sodi W Series is a global phenomenon that involves tens of thousands of drivers around the world and continues to grow.

The figures are indisputable: the SWS is progressing on all fronts. In 2024, more than 14,000 SWS races took place around the world, compared with 10,800 in 2023. The number of participants is increasing in all categories, with a total of more than 135,000. There are now more than 700 SWS-branded circuits around the world. New countries have joined the initiative. At the same time, electric karting has made spectacular progress, converting 40 circuits in two years. By way of example, Finland is the first country to switch to a majority of electric races.

The interest in SWS can be explained by the exceptional quality of the Sodi Loisir products used and by the rigour of the SWS-organised events. In addition, the regulatory change adopted in 2024 has encouraged the development of the activity. This overall growth opens up new prospects for the dynamic SWS team, which is constantly monitoring the development of the community.

The Finals: benchmark events

The constant search for improvements is driving forward the importance of the SWS Finals. These events motivate many SWS drivers in their quest for results.

Electricity has the wind in its sails

The success of the 2nd E-Sprint Final at Payerne in Switzerland confirmed the trend: electric karts are on the up, so much so that Junior and Endurance categories are expected to make their debut in an electric Final soon. At the end of May, the 3rd E-Sprint Final will welcome nearly 100 drivers to the Wavre Indoor Karting site south of Brussels, run by the De Mevius family. A new track will be set up for this event.

Beneficial return to 4-stroke

The decision to favour 4-stroke engines at the previous International Final in Genk (BEL) brought nothing but benefits to the event. There was greater sportingness, more consistency between the drivers and superb racing in all conditions. This direction will be confirmed in 2025 at the major annual SWS meeting in Campillos in southern Spain at the beginning of July. With its 1.5km competition circuit, the Kartcenter Campillos is very active in SWS. A quality venue, the track hosted the 2021 FIA Karting World Championship and is the opening venue for the 2025 European Championship.

The Sprint and Endurance categories will be powered by powerful Honda 390cc 4-stroke engines, while the Kids will be competing at the wheel of Sodi LR6s, just like those that made their mark on the 2024 event with their dynamic qualities.

In 2025, a new level will be added to satisfy even more drivers. The Regional Cups will develop the intermediate level before the International Final in five major regions of the world. The Sprint category will embody this concept at the SRA Racing track in Quebec, the Dubai Autodrome, the E1 Go Kart site in Poland, the Sport Kart 390 in Chile and JPR Racing Kart in Ostricourt, France. Two tickets for the International Final will be up for grabs each time.

SWS: a successful synergy between the circuits, the drivers and the manufacturer

All immersed in the spirit of competition, the three stakeholders in the SWS work together to fuel progress. The drivers are on a constant quest for performance, while the circuits are constantly improving their infrastructure. The success of the Sodi brand has been built on a pronounced taste for innovation, while the SWS department fine-tunes its leisure racing concept down to the smallest detail.
