Kart: WSK at La Conca / Six finals six wins for KR
Reportagem: Kart Republic

What an incredible start to the 2025 season for the KR chassis! At the first major international event of the year in Europe, the Italian brand won in all categories on the La Conca circuit, at the opening event of the WSK Super Master Series: Mini U10, Mini 60, OK-N Junior, OK-Junior, OK and KZ2. The new CIK-FIA homologation cycle couldn't have got off to a better start for Kart Republic.

Team expertise rewarded

It's always tricky to draw conclusions from the first major competition on the calendar, but the KR Global Motorsport Company group can only be delighted with the six victories achieved in the Lecce region. In addition to the KR Motorsport team, which added a victory to its list of honours, the satellite teams demonstrated the excellence of their work and outstanding driver management. Fusion Motorsport, SP Motorsport, Koski Motorsport, Team Driver Racing Kart and Kidix Driver Performance also took top spot on the podium.

11 podium finishes in all

At La Conca, the KR chassis accounted for over 30% of the entries, took 60% of the podiums and won 100% of the Finals. Michael McGaughy (Koski Motorsport) and Noah Baglin (Prema Racing), who set the fastest lap of the race, secured the double in OK-Junior, while Josh Bergman and Wynn Godschalk did the same in Mini U10. In OK-N Junior, it was a hat-trick for the KR-IAME teams with Lucas Palacio (KR Motorsport) winning ahead of Many Nuvolini (KR Motorsport) and Téo Policand (Victory Lane).

Niccolo Perico (Team Driver Racing Kart) led the Mini 60 "Group 3" Final from start to finish, while Stan Pex (SP Motorsport) made the difference in KZ2. Confirming the results of recent years in OK, the KR chassis proved to be particularly competitive on the very demanding Muro Leccese track. Zac Drummond (Fusion Motorsport) got his season off to a winning start, but Dries Van Langendonck (Prema Racing) also finished on the third step of the podium on his debut with his new team. With Zac Green (DPK Racing), the fastest driver in the Final, and Iacopo Martinese (Cetilar Racing), that made a total of four KR-IAMEs in the top five!

Comments from Glenn Keyaert, KR Global Motorsport Company

"We're starting the WSK season as we ended it: with victories. Our chassis performed very well in all categories, Mini, Junior, Senior and KZ, which is a very important point and shows that we have been working in the right direction as we prepare for 2025. The grip conditions on the La Conca circuit were not easy, but we were able to cope. The credit also goes to all the teams who put their trust in us. They too proved to be competitive. Koski Motorsport, for example, has just joined us and is already a leader in the highly competitive OK-Junior category. Of course, the next round at Sarno will be a new challenge and the work has only just begun, but such an overall result is motivating for the rest of the season."

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
