Kart: WSK Final Cup confirms the performance of LeCont tyres

With 342 drivers from 52 nationalities taking part, the WSK Final Cup got off to a flying start. At the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato from 17th to 19th November, sporting success was there for all to see, with a particularly high standard of competition and races of great intensity. As a partner of WSK Promotion, the manufacturer LeCont contributed its expertise and professionalism in supplying the KZ2 and OK categories with tyres that proved to be competitive, efficient and consistent.

As was the case in 2023 in the Champions Cup, Super Master Series, Open Series and Euro Series, the LeCont brand was delighted to supply its famous 'Prime' tyres to the KZ2 and OK competitors in the WSK Final Cup. This series takes place over two meetings with a final round at Franciacorta scheduled just a week after the Lonato event. Located an hour from the LeCont factory, the famous track in the Lombardy region once again highlighted the qualities of the Italian tyres. Lap times were close to the records previously set by LeCont. Technically, the event took place in excellent conditions, with no problems detected in the perfect functioning of the tyres.

Exciting battles in KZ2 with LeCont

By setting a time of 45"182 at an average speed of over 95 km/h during official Free Practice on Friday morning, Cristian Bertuca came within a few hundredths of the time set by Paolo Ippolito in March at the WSK Open Series, attesting to LeCont's determination to produce efficient and consistent tyres throughout the season. In Lonato, victory finally went to Matteo Zanchi who won his magnificent duel with Cristian Bertuca. Alex Marigliano completed the podium despite the efforts of David Trefilov. For three days, during the Qualifying session, warm-ups, heats, Prefinals and Final, the fastest time was always under 46 seconds. The consistent performance and low wear of LeCont tyres enabled the teams to work in the best possible conditions and the drivers to enjoy themselves on the track. There were seven different makes of chassis in the top 10 of the Final, demonstrating the value of this high-level competition.

A coveted victory in OK

LeCont has joined the OK category drivers throughout most of the WSK Promotion season. The Italian manufacturer would like to thank Luca De Donno and his entire team for the trust they have shown in this partnership, which has already lasted for several years. The WSK continues to shine in the world of karting thanks to its illustrious events.

Several drivers took it in turns to take the lead at Lonato, confirming the attractiveness of the category. Dmitry Matveev, who took pole position, relinquished 1st place to Luigi Coluccio at the end of the Qualifying Heats. Fresh from the OK-Junior category, Oleksandr Bondarev showed his worth by winning a Prefinal and Sebastiano Pavan managed to stay in the lead for several laps in the Final, but it was Matveev who ended up on the top step of the podium ahead of Pavan and Gustaw Wisniewski.

The fastest time of the three days was set by Jakub Kamenik in 46"373, without beating the time of 46"266 set at the start of the season by Matveev... with LeCont tyres of course!

Rendezvous at the Franciacorta Karting Track from 24th to 26th November for the second and final round of the 2023 WSK Final Cup.
