Kart: the rise of the KR drivers continues with new successes
Reportagem: Kart Republic

361 drivers took part in the second round of the 2023 WSK Super Master Series in Franciacorta and the KR chassis was best represented in the paddock in terms of statistics. Marked by the performance of the KR Global Motorsport Company group, the meeting ended with magnificent victories for Stepan Antonov in OK-Junior and Bosco Arias Chavari in Mini 60, while young driver Enzo Tarnvanichkul celebrated his debut in OK with a podium! The partnership with the Prema Racing car team is off to an excellent start.

KR takes the lead in the OK-Junior series

Two KR chassis were first to cross the finish line. A penalty deprived the Alonso Kart colours of victory, but Stepan Antonov was there with his KR-IAME to take the top step of the podium. Already the winner of two heats, the young driver made brilliant progress since his start in 11th position. Congratulations to Iacopo Martinese, Stepan Antonov and Oleksandr Bondarev for the remarkable hat-trick in Prefinal B, as well as to Luna Fluxa-Cross for joining the leading group at the end of the Final.

A top three already for the Prema Racing colours

Unbeaten in the European OK Championship since it started, the KR brand remains an undisputed benchmark in this category and several drivers had the opportunity to shine in Franciacorta. The event allowed Prema Racing to inaugurate its new partnership with the Italian factory with a podium, thanks to the performance of Thai driver Enzo Tarnvachnikul. Prema Racing has been training drivers for F1 for many years and has a lot in common with KR Global Motorsport, especially in F2, F3 and F4. Just behind Tarnvanichkul, Joe Turney completed his comeback in 4th position with the fastest lap in the race. The Briton was back from the United States where he won the IAME Winter Series (X30 Senior) title in the DAP colours!

The KR-IAME still as fast in KZ2

Crowned FIA European Karting Champion in 2022, the KR-IAME package supported the young Kean Nakamura Berta and Alex Powell in their discovery of gearbox kart racing. The Japanese and the Jamaican finished 1st and 2nd respectively in last year's European OK Championship. For his second race in KZ2, Nakamura-Berta showed his incredible competitiveness: 2nd in Timed Qualifying, fastest time in the Final and the absolute record of the event in all categories combined with 45"936.

The next generation has talent!

The KR brand also congratulates all the young drivers who have been at the forefront with its chassis. The Spaniard Bosco Arias Chavari and the Dutchman Dean Hoogendoorn secured a superb double in the Mini category. In the Under 10 category, Belgian Antoine Venant finished 2nd after leading the Final for a long time. The DAP colours remain at the top of the overall ranking.

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
