Kart: a lively weekend at the foot of Vesuvius
Reportagem: KartCom Selection

The international competition seasons are getting longer and longer thanks to WSK Promotion, responding to the demands of the manufacturers, the main teams and the competitors. 2023 promises to be a very busy calendar. The WSK Final Cup and its two events occupy the beginning of November with significant grids. Nearly 200 drivers were racing in Sarno and nearly 300 are registered for Lonato next weekend.

Boredom is never on the schedule at Sarno. The WSK Final Cup suffered heavy rain on Friday and Saturday, which led Luca De Donno and his team to adapt the schedule accordingly. It is worth remembering that Naples is located well to the east and night falls quite early compared to European time. Fortunately, the packed programme on Sunday was able to take place in the sunshine.

The Final races were particularly interesting to watch with fierce battles in all categories. One of the interests of these end-of-year races is to witness the first steps of several young drivers in the higher categories. In OK, Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin / TM) in 2nd and Nathan Tye (Sodi / TM) in 4th were competing in only their second race in this category. Even stronger was Frenchman Jonathan Hélias (Tony Kart / Vortex), who was new to OK with Ward Racing, who finished on the Final podium.

The OK-Junior top three was composed of three rookies, Emanuele Olivieri (IPK/TM), Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) and Aleksandar Bogunovic (KR/Iame). Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM), Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) and Jindrich Pesl (Birel ART/TM), who switched from Mini to OK-Junior during the season, finished just outside the top ten behind the reigning World Champion Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart/Vortex).

The KSP / Kartcom team would like to wish a speedy recovery to their photographer colleague Davide Pastanella, who was hit by a kart during the formation lap of the OK Final. The Italian, who has just returned from F1, has been checked in hospital and is in good health.
