Following in the footsteps of his compatriots Gastão Fráguas, 1995 FA World Champion and Ruben Carrapatoso, 1998 FA World Champion, Brazilian Matheus Morgatto brought the OK 2022 world title back to the South American continent after 24 years. At the wheel of a very fast Kart Republic chassis with an IAME engine, he dominated with great consistency. This is a great reward for the Spanish team DPK Racing of Diego & Pablo Rodríguez, close to Fernando Alonso and supported by Dino Chiesa and IAME.

The KR and Tony Kart brands shared half the number of chassis in Sarno as well as the titles with Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart/Vortex) new OK-Junior World Champion, a first for a Thai driver. The Tony Kart Racing Team once again proved its legendary efficiency. Present for only three years in this category, Sodikart succeeded in becoming vice World Champion with its Hungarian driver Adam Hideg. Sodi, Parolin, LN, Energy and Birel ART were also in the two top 10, while TM Racing, traditionally strongly represented in KZ/KZ2, was Sarno's leading engine manufacturer by number with more than 40% of the field.

As in Le Mans, the 2022 World Championship was supported by two partners. Mondokart.com, the Italian distributor of spare parts worldwide, was well represented, and the Indian team Mumbaï Falcon was also involved in the world competition.

Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) was the best-placed Frenchman in OK with his 14th position, while young Maxens Verbrugge (KR/Iame) was the top Frenchman in OK-Junior with a 14th position ahead of Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) who made an impressive comeback of more than 90 places after his disqualification for weight in Qualifying.

In 2023, the OK and OK-Junior World Championships will again be held in Italy, at the Franciacorta circuit near Milan, while the KZ World Championship will be held in Germany at Wackersdorf.
