Kart: welcome return to Lonato in the WSK Euro Series
Reportagem: KartCom Selection

The WSK has returned to the calendar after a four-month break since mid-March. The WSK Euro Series, scheduled over two events, returned to the South Garda Karting of Lonato, where it confirmed its status. The Lonato track did not pose any particular problems due to the heat and the races progressed without problems with their usual intensity. After the experiences in Cremona and Franciacorta, it was a bit like coming home.

The field of 244 participants owed a lot to the 110 Minis, but it is worth noting the defection of several major players in the three other categories. The German Championship event, which took place the same weekend in Ampfing, affected KZ2. It should be different in a fortnight in Sarno where the FIA Karting World Championship - OK and OK-Junior will take place in mid-September. WSK Promotion has chosen to use FIA Karting tyres on this occasion (Vega in OK-Junior and MG in OK). KZ2 was already running on LeCont tyres in Lonato.

WSK Promotion also took the initiative to tackle Qualifying Practice by forcing all competitors to leave the start park early in the session. The new rule stated that the timing line had to be crossed no later than 90" after the start of the session. Some drivers, and not the least of them, were caught out and had the unpleasant surprise of not being credited with any time. It seems like a good thing to want to improve the Qualifying session, where the best times were often achieved in one or two laps, making it unnecessarily difficult to manage the traffic. We still have to wait for the reaction of the participants to conclude that it was a success, but the initiative deserves to be highlighted.

The liveliness of the Mini Gr3 is a pleasure to see with 38 nationalities racing in Lonato. Italy is once again at the forefront of high level karting.
