Kart: successful first full season for the Champions of the Future Euro Series
Reportagem: KartCom Selection

The launch of Champions of the Future was disrupted as it coincided with the pandemic. The programme had to be adapted accordingly and it was not until 2022 that the new RGMMC series was able to reach its full potential. All four Euro Series events were held this year as planned, with an opening race at the start of the season in Franciacorta at the request of key members of the karting community. Tony Kart, Birel ART, KR and Parolin supported the addition of the Winter Series to their programme at the end of February by including KZ2.

Strong arguments

The Euro Series relies on the expertise of RGMMC, the current promoter of the FIA Karting Championships, to organise competitions close to those of the FIA Karting. This concerns the OK and OK-Junior categories equipped with the same tyres as in the FIA, MG in OK and Vega for the Juniors. The sporting management of the Euro Series as well as its technical rigour are strongly inspired by the requirements of the FIA. The media coverage includes comprehensive live-streaming over two days, a commentator present at all times and numerous interviews in addition to the partnership with the broadcaster Motorsport.com which is also of great quality.

The Champions of the Future events are also ideally positioned two weeks before the European Championship, a timeframe that some would like to see reduced to one week in order to make logistical savings. The Euro Series is therefore the best way to prepare for the European competitions, while at the same time representing an additional challenge. It is therefore not surprising that the drivers and teams approve of this second Championship as a necessary and effective investment.

Success confirmed on the ground

RGMMC and WSK Promotion have undoubtedly been the best organisers of high-level karting competitions for a good ten years. As Luca De Donno did in his time, James Geidel takes advantage of his status as promoter of the FIA Karting Championships to boost his series with a rigour that does him credit. He can count on the support of the manufacturers and the major teams in his approach and no doubt, at least implicitly, on the approval of the FIA Karting.

On the sporting level, the results remain different between the Euro Series and the European Championship. The weather is sometimes responsible for this, as is the way the races are run, but it is clear that many drivers progress from one event to the next. Better prepared for the FIA Karting races, they can also count on more competitive equipment, as the two weeks between races are used by the teams to analyse the data and improve the karts. The battle for the 2022 Euro Series titles has been exciting in itself. The FIA Karting Championships always retain an extra level of prestige which the Euro Series helps to maintain.
