Kart: sensational performances and a double KZ / KZ2 hat-trick in Valencia
Reportagem: Sodi Racing Team

Confirming the victories from the start of the season, Sodikart and CPB Sport dominated the opening round of the Champions of the Future Shifter series in Valencia, both in KZ, the premier category, and in KZ2, against a strong and highly competitive field. The Sodi chassis finished with two dazzling hat-tricks led by Mattéo Spirgel in KZ and Max Orlov in KZ2.

KZ2: 52 starters, 36 finalists and the quarter in order!

The work done since the start of the season continued to pay off and the drivers equipped with Sodi chassis were at the front of the field right from Timed Practice, with the top three places, and then in all the heats. Kasper Schormans, who had already taken pole position, won all three heats and Super Heat A. Max Orlov also won a heat, as did Max Schleimer, who regained a place on the front row for the Final after his success in Super Heat B ahead of team-mate Jayden Thien.

In an event that enjoyed warm, dry weather over the three days, the CPB Sport team secured the fastest laps in all six heats. The CPB Sport team's Sodi-TMs continued to make headway in the Final against stiff competition who had come both to claim the podium and to prepare for the FIA Karting European Championship. This time, Orlov took the lead, beating Schleimer and Thien. Schormans, who deserved to be on the podium just as much, completed his team's magnificent quartet in the Final. Dion Van Werven and Dominik Simek were also in the spotlight, climbing 15 and 10 places respectively.

KZ: Victory for Spirgel ahead of Nomblot and Van Walstijn

As in KZ2, Sodi chassis got the better of their rivals in Timed Practice, with Mattéo Spirgel, the 2024 European KZ2 Champion, and Jean Nomblot taking pole position. Spirgel confirmed his position as leader in all three heats, in the Super Heat and in the Final, with maturity and speed. Senna Van Walstijn joined the party by moving up to 2nd place and it was Jean Nomblot who rounded off the 100% Sodi-TM podium.

Comments from team manager Paul Bizalion

"I'm obviously very proud of the results that are coming one after the other for Sodikart and CPB Sport. Since September 2024, we have won the European KZ2 Championship with Mattéo Spirgel, the World KZ Championship with Giuseppe Palomba, the WSK Final Cup with Max Orlov and the WSK Super Master Series with Senna Van Walstijn. I should point out that these successes were achieved with different drivers and different tyre manufacturers. These performances did not come about by chance. The Sodi chassis is a real benchmark in the KZ categories, our engine builders have done an incredible job, the whole team has shown its unwavering determination to go out and find new victories and I have to admit that our driver line-up is exceptional. As far as KZ is concerned, I can understand that the best drivers in the world would like to race on tyres with better grip, but they are the same for everyone and we all have to make the most of them. We haven't done any more testing than our rivals on the current Dunlop tyres. In the Champions of the Future Shifter and in FIA Karting, they are broadly the same as in 2024 and I have seen races that were just as intense as last year. In this event, we won the Final easily, but we dominated from Qualifying onwards against some very strong competitors. Sodikart put in a similar performance in KZ2, with a grid full of 36 drivers and almost 30 karts finishing. It's now up to us to confirm this in the next few competitions..."
